Last Breath

As she breathed out, her last single breath left her
she had no idea at the moment
the difference it would make to her
to no longer breath as a single entity
to realize her breath meant the world
to somebody
the man standing in front of her
who always took her breath away from then on
the man standing in front of her
in whom she could not breathe without
the understanding
the feeling
the desire
to simply be
in the same space
lips parting and lungs gasping
no longer breathing for herself alone
her air became his sustenance
his air became her comfort
again she breathed her last single breath
from then on
her air lead her to the path of togetherness
where two lives
breathed in the same space.
